Canada Deports Karamveer Singh, Punjab Police Take Him Into Custody at Delhi Airport
Karamveer Singh Deported from Canada and taken into custody by the Punjab Police Anti-Gangster Task Force (AGTF) after arriving at Indira Gandhi International Airport in New Delhi, according to Punjab Police officials.
Singh, who is from Bahadur Ke village in Ludhiana, has been described by police as a close associate of jailed gangster Lawrence Bishnoi. Authorities said he was wanted in a case registered at the State Crime Police Station in Mohali.
Punjab Police Take Custody at Delhi Airport
According to Punjab Police, an AGTF team apprehended Karamveer Singh at IGI Airport after he arrived in India following his deportation from Canada.
Punjab Director General of Police Gaurav Yadav said Singh was wanted in connection with a case registered under provisions of the Indian Penal Code, the Arms Act and the Passport Act. The AGTF had also initiated a Look Out Circular against him on September 3, 2026.
The custody of Singh is part of an investigation into alleged links between overseas-based individuals and organised crime networks operating across different countries.
Alleged Link to Anmol Bishnoi
Punjab Police have alleged that Karamveer Singh provided logistical assistance and a hideout to Anmol Bishnoi, the brother of Lawrence Bishnoi, while Anmol was in the United States.
Police are examining the nature of Singh’s alleged association with the wider network and are investigating whether he had other operational connections outside India. These allegations have been made by law enforcement authorities and remain subject to the legal process.
The case has also drawn attention to the international dimension of organised crime investigations, particularly where individuals allegedly maintain contacts or support networks across multiple countries.
Criminal Cases Under Investigation
Additional Director General of Police Promod Ban said Singh has an extensive criminal history in Punjab. Police said he is wanted in at least five cases involving allegations related to murder, attempt to murder, armed robbery, extortion and offences under the Arms Act.
Investigators are now working to establish the full extent of his alleged operational connections. Authorities are also examining possible financial links and relationships with other people suspected of being associated with the network.
The investigation is expected to focus on information that may help police understand how the alleged network operated and whether other individuals were involved.
International Investigation Angle
The deportation from Canada and subsequent custody in India highlight the international dimension of investigations involving organised crime suspects.
When individuals wanted in India are located abroad, cooperation between law enforcement and immigration authorities can become an important part of bringing them back within the Indian legal system.
The development involving Singh comes shortly after Punjab Police, with assistance from central agencies, secured the extradition of Amritpal Singh alias Amrit Dalam from Moldova. Police described him as a key operative of the Jaggu Bhagwanpuria gang.
These separate developments reflect ongoing efforts by Indian authorities to trace and bring back individuals accused of involvement in organised criminal networks operating across international borders.
Investigation Continues
Punjab Police said further investigation is underway to identify Singh’s alleged operational links, possible funding channels and connections with other members of the network.
Investigators will also examine the allegations against him through the appropriate legal process. Any criminal liability will ultimately be determined by the courts based on evidence presented during the proceedings.
The case remains under investigation, and the allegations reported by police should not be treated as established facts unless proven through due legal proceedings.
Karamveer Singh’s deportation from Canada and subsequent custody at Delhi airport is now part of a wider investigation into alleged transnational organised crime links involving individuals operating across India and overseas.
